  • Relationship between real numbers and integers
  • Relationship between prime numbers and composite numbers

Various types of numbers :
There are various types of numbers. We are going to discuss various numbers in details below.

Natural number :
Natural numbers are the numbers which stays from one and continues upto infinity. eg. 1,2,3,4,5,.....
There must be not any decimal in a number to be a natural number.

Whole number :
Whole numbers are the numbers that starts from zero and continues upto infinity . eg. 0,1,2,3,4,5,.....
There must be not any decimal number to be a whole number.

Prime number :
Prime numbers are the numbers that has only two fixed factors which are one and the itself of which we are calculating factors. eg.
2: factors (1,2)
3: factors (1,3)
5: factors (1,5)
So 2,3,5,7,11,... Are prime numbers because there are only two factors of these which are one and itself.

Composite numbers :
The number which has atleast one factor other than one and itself.
Or
The number which has atleast three factors.
Or
The number which has more than two factors.
eg.
4 : factors (1,2,4)
6 : factors (1,2,3,6)
8 : factors (1,2,4,8)
9 : factors (1,3,9)
So, 4,6,8,9,10,.... are composite numbers because these have more than two factors.

NOTE : One (1) is neither a prime number nor a composite number.

Integers :
Integers are the numbers which are represented in the number line except the decimal numbers.
eg. 0,1,-1,2,-2,3,-3,....
Means all while numbers along with their negative .

Real numbers :
Real numbers are the numbers that can be represented on the number line means integers with the decimal numbers. eg.
1;4;7.6;9.2;5.1;0.3;.....

Coprime numbers :
Co prime numbers are the numbers which have no common factors other than one (1). eg. 2 &3 ; 5&8 ; 9 & 14 ;....etc.

Decimal numbers :
The numbers that have decimal in it are called decimal numbers.
eg. 0.4 ; 4.5; 5.3 etc.

Fraction numbers
The numbers which have numerator and denominator are fraction numbers.eg. 3/4 ; 5/3 ; 5/9 etc.

What is numerator?
Numerator is the upper part of fraction numbers. eg. numerator of 3/4 is 3 ; numerator of 5/3 is 5  etc.

What is denominator?
Denominator is the lower part of fraction numbers. eg. denominator of 3/4 is 4 ; denominator of 5/3 is 3  etc

Relationship between numbers:
There is some relationship between different types of numbers as explained below:

Relationship between natural number and whole number:
All natural numbers are whole numbers but all whole numbers are not natural numbers.
Also, we can say that only zero (0) is a number which is only whole number except it all are natural numbers too.

Relationship between real numbers and integers:
All integers are real numbers but all real numbers are not integers. eg. 5 is integer as well as real number but 5.6 is real number but not an integer.

Relationship between prime numbers and composite numbers:
if a number is prime then it will not be composite and vice versa.
Also, all natural numbers are either prime or composite exept only one number which is one i.e. 1

one (1) is neither prime nor composite.
